School of Health Professions

About the School of Health Professions

Hunter’s Institute of Health Sciences, dedicated to the educational preparation of a range of health care professions, opened its doors on East 106th Street in 1968. Six years later, the Institute became the School of Health Sciences and moved downtown to the Brookdale Campus. Today Hunter College’s School of Health Professions’ mission is the education of the next generation of health care professionals in the areas of Nutrition, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Physical Therapy. These professionals will work in health care centers, schools, organizations and private practice to improve the lives of those they assist through direct service delivery, research and education.
