Minor in Community Organizing

Requirements for the Minor: Minor in Community Organizing (CO)

Students are required to take the following courses in sequence:

SW 36000 Introduction to Community Organizing   -3 credits
SW 46000 Advanced Community Organizing Theory & Practice   -3 credits (Spring Year One)
SW 37000 Community Organizing Internship and Field Seminar  (formerly SOSCI 397) – -100 hours-3 credits (Spring or Fall Year One)

Sub-total = 9 credits

Students are required to select two 3 credit electives from a menu of 3 credit elective courses approved by 11 Departments and Programs: Africana & Latino/Puerto Rican Studies; Anthropology; Community Health; Film & Media Studies; History; Political Science; Public Policy; Psychology; Sociology; Urban Studies; Women & Gender Studies.

No courses in the student’s major department or program may be applied to meet this minor’s 6 credit elective requirement.

Total Credits for the Minor = 15 credits
